Large anti-submarine ships of Pacific Fleet 'destroy' submarine in Sea of Japan during drills

MOSCOW. Feb 28 (Interfax) - The large anti-submarine ships Admiral Panteleyev and Admiral Vinogradov of the Pacific Fleet searched for and destroyed a hypothetical enemy's submarine in the Peter the Great Gulf on Thursday, Pacific Fleet spokesman Capt. 2nd rank Nikolai Voskresensky told Interfax.

"The Pacific Fleet sailors used torpedo weapons and depth bombs to achieve the task," he said.

One of the submarines opposing the Pacific Fleet's sailors was a diesel submarine, he said. The search operation involved shipboard equipment, an anti-submarine Ilyushin Il-38 submarine, anti-submarine helicopters Kamov Ka-29PL of the naval fleet aviation, which used hydroacoustic stations.
