Russia hopes for finalization, swift launch of Syrian constitutional committee - Nebenzya

NEW YORK. Feb 28 (Interfax) - Russia hopes that a Syrian constitutional committee will be approved and begins working very soon, Russia's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Vasily Nebenzya told the UN Security Council on Thursday.

"Together with the special envoy [the UN Secretary General's special envoy for Syria Geir Pedersen] and with our Astana negotiation partners, Iran and Turkey, we continue working on finalizing the parameters of launching this mechanism being created in accordance with the decision by the Syrian national dialogue congress and the Security Council Resolution 2254," Nebenzya said.

"We are hoping for its launch in the very near future," he said.
