Kremlin hopes for expansion of Russian corporate projects in Venezuela - Peskov

MOSCOW. March 1 (Interfax) - Moscow hopes for expansion of Russian corporate projects in Venezuela, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

"We are keen on continuing our cooperation with Venezuela, especially as a number of our companies are implementing large-scale projects there. We hope these projects will have a bright future and expand. Of course, we wish our Venezuelan partners to rapidly deal with the domestic political and economic difficulties their country is experiencing," Peskov told the press on Friday.

Journalists asked Peskov whether Russia will give additional financial assistance to Venezuela for dealing with the national economic situation.

"No such talks are being conducted at the presidential level," Peskov said.

He directed to the Foreign Ministry the question of whether Venezuela had made any such requests.

Journalists also mentioned that President Vladimir Putin would not meet with visiting Venezuelan Vice-President Delcy Rodriguez, and asked Peskov whether this was "due to the shaky position of the incumbent Venezuelan executive authorities."

"Absolutely not. As you are aware, the Venezuelan vice-president is being received at a high level, and there is no lack of her communicating with the Russian side. It's because of the president's work schedule, domestic events planned earlier, etc." Peskov said.
