Russia's Pacific Fleet says its ships holding live-fire exercises in Sea of Japan

MOSCOW. March 12 (Interfax) - Ships of the Russian Pacific Fleet are holding artillery live-exercises in the Sea of Japan, the fleet's press service said.

"The large landing ship Oslyabya, the small anti-submarine ship Metel and two missile boats are conducting exercises in the sea today," the press service said.

Prior to them, similar drills were conducted by the small anti-submarine ship MPK-82 and the anti-sabotage vessels P-420 and P-377, it said.

During the exercises, which focused on arranging the ships' air defense while at sea, their crews shot down air-dropped targets, the press service said. The ships also held anti-mine drills, firing artillery weapons on a dummy floating mine, it said.
