High-ranking Russian, S. Korean diplomats discuss Korean Peninsula in St. Petersburg

MOSCOW. March 19 (Interfax) - Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Igor Morgulov and the South Korean Foreign Ministry's Special Representative for Korean Peninsula Peace and Security Affairs, Lee Do-hoon, discussed the current situation surrounding the Korean Peninsula in St. Petersburg on Tuesday.

During the talks, the parties "emphasized the need to step up efforts of all involved parties to find a political and diplomatic solution to the sub-region's issues, and develop and implement joint steps on the Korean settlement track," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

The parties "agreed to maintain close coordination between Russia and South Korea on this track," the statement said.
