MAKHACHKALA. March 19 (Interfax) - There are no more active militants left in Dagestan, the regional National Guard leader, Magomed Baachilov, said on Tuesday.
"As for members of illegal armed formations, today we have not a single active militant left in Dagestan, all of them have been destroyed," Baachilov said.
However, "a very large base of abettors" remains in the republic, he said.
Earlier Baachilov said that about 1,300 Dagestanis were now fighting alongside militants in Syria.
