MOSCOW. March 20 (Interfax) - Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov met with Venezuelan Ambassador Carlos Rafael Faria Tortosa on Wednesday to discuss relevant aspects of bilateral cooperation, the international agenda, and regional problems, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
"While the parties discussed the situation in and around Venezuela, the Russian side expressed support for the legitimate Venezuelan government's determination to settle political disagreements in the country peacefully, in strict compliance with national law and without destructive interference from abroad," the ministry said in a statement posted on its website.
Ryabkov had talks with U.S. Special Representative for Venezuela Elliott Abrams in Rome on Tuesday.
