Russian military base in Abkhazia receives batch of Tiger-M armored vehicles

ROSTOV-ON-DON. March 22 (Interfax) - The Russian Southern Military District's base in Abkhazia has received ten brand new GAZ Tiger-M armored vehicles, the district said on Friday.

"The machine is intended for conducting reconnaissance, providing support and protection for columns, patrol and fire support for troops. The upgraded Tiger has Class 5 ballistic protection in frontal projection and [Class] 3 in onboard and rear-end projections," the statement said.

The base also received about ten "Sobolyatnik" advanced portable radars for artillery reconnaissance under the district's re-armament plan.
