Patrushev announces Russian Security Council's meeting on space issues

MOSCOW. March 25 (Interfax) - The Russian Security Council will discuss the national space industry's development at one of its soonest meetings, according to Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev.

"One of our next meetings will be devoted to priorities in Russia's space activity," Patrushev told the newspaper Izvestia in an interview.

"First and foremost, we will discuss the space industry's capacity for boosting national science and economy, rather than countering anyone from or via outer space," Patrushev said.

As Interfax reported last week, the Russian government demanded that the Roscosmos administration enhance the effectiveness of the fulfillment of the federal targeted program of cosmodromes' development in 2018-2025 this year.
