MOSCOW. March 25 (Interfax) - Russia sees a potential for exporting the fifth generation Sukhoi Su-57 fighter and is ready to cooperate with India, Russian Industry and Trade Minister Denis Manturov said in an interview with Interfax.
"Our top priority is to secure the Defense Ministry's needs. At the same time, this fifth generation Russian warplane has outstanding characteristics, and that makes it possible to consider export prospects for the future," Manturov said.
Russia is open to working with India on this program, he said. "India is traditionally Russia's biggest partner in aircraft building. This trend should continue in the future, as well," the minister said.
"As for competition, not only the price or specific characteristics of every specific plane is taken into consideration when such weapons are purchased. Although, these are very important parameters and we do have something to offer here," Manturov said when asked whether the Su-57 can compete with fifth generation U.S. fighters.
"Nevertheless, one of the important circumstances on the weapons market is the level of the buyers' trust in suppliers. In this regard, Russia is pursuing very consistent and pragmatic policies, not trying to link things that have no actual connection, and without trying to influence other countries through sanctions or similar measures," Manturov said.
