Russia itself to decide how to help Venezuela - MP Shamanov

MOSCOW. March 28 (Interfax) - Russia will make its own decisions on how to defend its interests in other countries, Chairman of the Russian State Duma's Defense Committee Vladimir Shamanov told Interfax on Thursday.

"A legal question needs to be asked here: how come it was none other than the U.S. Secretary of State [Mike Pompeo] who officially announced that they'll be asking Congress for $500 million in aid for Venezuela?" Shamanov said.

U.S. complaints regarding cooperation between Russia and Venezuela are groundless, he said.

"It's just that the U.S. stubbornly doesn't want to understand that the unipolar world no longer exists and isn't going to," he said.

"Russia doesn't need any advisors, regardless of their rank," Shamanov said.
