Rosoboronexport says intends to deepen cooperation with Venezuela

MOSCOW. April 1 (Interfax) - Russian military-technical organizations are going to deepen cooperation with the Venezuelan Defense Ministry, Rosoboronexport spokesman Vyacheslav Davydenko said.

"Rosoboronexport and other Russian organizations that are involved in Russian-Venezuelan military and technical cooperation with Venezuela remain committed to the line at deepening interaction with the Defense Ministry and other state agencies of Venezuela, presently paying particular attention to training specialists and timely maintenance of the supplied equipment," Davydenko said on Friday.

Russian helicopters have been supplied to Venezuela, he said. "Today, helicopters supplied from Russia to Venezuela not only participate in anti-contraband operations but also in monitoring forest fires, in search and evacuation operations in areas stricken by natural disasters, as well as in delivering humanitarian cargo, including food and necessities, to distant areas of the country," he said.
