MAKHACHKALA. April 1 (Interfax) - Police in Dagestan are searching the regional branch of the Russian Agricultural Bank Rosselkhozbank, an informed source told Interfax on Monday.
"Currently officers have come to carry out searches at the regional branch of Rosselkhozbank. They are seizing documentation," the source said.
The searches are related to the arrest of the branch's security chief Raip Ashikov, he said.
"Ashikov, who until 2013 worked at Makhachkala's police chief, after his resignation form the interior system, started working as head of security at the regional Rossekhozbank office. He was arrested at Makhachkala's airport a day earlier when he wanted to leave the republic. He is suspected of financing terrorism," the source said.
Officials were not available for comment on this information yet.
