MOSCOW. April 5 (Interfax) - Foreign affairs committees of the parliaments of Russia, Turkey, and Iran will hold their first tripartite meeting next week, State Duma Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Leonid Slutsky told the press on Friday.
"The first trilateral meeting of foreign policy committees of the Russian Federal Assembly and the parliaments of Iran and Turkey is scheduled to take place at the State Duma on April 10. Regional security issues of South and Central Eurasia and the Middle East will be on the agenda," Slutsky said.
"The situation in Syria and that surrounding Iran will be analyzed in this context," he said.
State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin will open the meeting, and heads of national delegations will make reports. Acclaimed scientists and experts will also be participating in the meeting, Slutsky said.
"We are expecting a professional discussion and want to make this format regular. Moscow, Ankara, and Tehran could host annual meetings by turn," he said.
