New weapons account for half of Russia's Central Military District hardware - command

YEKATERINBURG. April 5 (Interfax) - New modernized pieces of equipment are being delivered to Russia's Central Military District in line with a plan approved by the Defense Ministry, Central Military District chief of staff Mikhail Teplinsky said at the district's Innovations Day in Yekaterinburg.

"The district is now practically fully provided with weapons and military special equipment. Fifty-one percent of all military hardware is now new weapons," he said.

Over 30 pieces of military hardware were presented at the exhibit at the Central Military District Innovations Day in Yekaterinburg. "We are looking at these developments so that we can later use them in various activities in the Armed Forces, as the troops' actions depend on capabilities, and they are later developed after they are applied, new ways of tactical actions are developed. This means the development of new forms and means of operative presence. But the key thing today is the military equipment," Teplinsky said.

In particular, the Ironiya multi-function optical-electric reconnaissance system was presented at the Innovations Day for the first time. The system makes it possible to monitor areas at a distance of up to 10 kilometers in a real-time mode using computer communication systems, which transmit the signal from the optical-electronic device via a secure radio channel.

The Innovations Day is held in Yekaterinburg on April 5-6 in line with the decision of the Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu.
