MOSCOW. April 16 (Interfax) - It is necessary to step up efforts on the return of Syrian refugees, who are staying in Lebanon, home, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov at a meeting with his Lebanese counterpart Gebran Bassil in Moscow on Monday.
"The Russian side reiterated its consistent stance in support to the Lebanese Republic's sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity. It also emphasized the importance of stepping up concerted efforts to facilitate the process of the return of Syrian refugees, who are staying in Lebanon, home," the Russian Foreign Ministry said following the meeting.
According to the ministry, "during the conversation, the parties discussed the emerging situation in the Middle East and North Africa with an emphasis on the situation in Lebanon, as well as the settlement of the crisis in Syria."
"The parties also addressed relevant issues of further strengthening of traditionally friendly Russian-Lebanese relations, including building mutually beneficial commercial and economic and humanitarian ties," the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
