MOSCOW. April 19 (Interfax) - The nuclear-powered submarines Novomoskovsk and Karelia held anti-submarine drills in the Barents Sea, the Russian Northern Fleet said on Friday.
"The submarines took turns to detect and chase each other, escape from the pursuer and attack the underwater adversary," the fleet said in a statement seen by Interfax.
"The underwater maneuvers were conducted at a depth of more than 100 meters, without actual use of naval weaponry," it said.
"The main task was to practice the tactic during contact with the underwater adversary," the statement said.
"While at sea, the crews of the missile carrying nuclear submarines held a series of onboard drills as part of the program of combat training on board submarines," it said.
