U.S. Embassy to Russia demands Whelan's release due to lack of evidence of his spying

MOSCOW. April 29 (Interfax) - There are no grounds for the custody of Paul Whelan, who is detained in Russia on espionage charges, the U.S. Embassy in Moscow said.

"PaulWhelan has now been detained in Lefortovo Prison for more than 4 months. 123 days to be exact. We've seen no evidence, despite officials claiming he was caught red-handed. No evidence = no reason to keep him detained. Stop playing games!" the U.S. embassy posted on Twitter on Monday.
