Tecmash to showcase new anti-submarine air bomb abroad for 1st time

MOSCOW. April 29 (Interfax) - Tecmash will for the first time present a new anti-submarine bomb, Zagon-2E, and an anti-tank mine, TM-89, at the International Defense Industry Fair (IDEF) due to be held in Turkey on April 30-May 3, the company stated on Monday.

"One of our leading exhibits at the show in Istanbul will be the anti-submarine adjustable airborne bomb Zagon-2E. Another is the anti-tank mine TM-89, to be exhibited outside Russia for the first time," the statement said.

These pieces of ammunition have no foreign analogues and will be unveiled to the world for the first time, it said.

Zagon-2E can detect and destroy submarines both over water and under water as deep as 600 meters, the press service said.

"Unlike its predecessors, the Zagon-2E bomb is two-three times more effective and can 'hover' over water surface for up to four minutes on target course," Tecmash chief Vladimir Lepin was quoted in the statement as saying.

The company will also display its anti-tank mine TM-89 which can "breach bottoms of all modern tanks and other armored vehicles," the statement said.

The IDEF exhibition is among the world's top ten biggest arms fairs.
