Moscow accuses Venezuelan opposition of using violent methods, calls for talks with authorities

MOSCOW. April 30 (Interfax) - The Russian Foreign Ministry has accused the Venezuelan opposition of applying violent methods of confrontation and has noted that the problems of that country should be resolved through talks without any preconditions.

"The Venezuelan radical opposition is again using violent methods of confrontation. Instead of a peaceful settlement of political disagreements they seek instigating the conflict, provoking public order violations and clashes involving the armed forces," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a commentary released on Tuesday.

The Russian Foreign Ministry commentary is calling for "giving up violence." "It's important to avoid riots and bloodshed. The problems faced by Venezuela should be solved through a responsible negotiating process without any preconditions," the commentary said.
