MOSCOW. May 6 (Interfax) - Any use of force in Venezuela not to be sanctioned by the UN Security Council is fraught with catastrophic consequences for international security, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.
"We with our Venezuelan partners share the opinion that any use of force in circumvention of the [UN] Security Council is fraught with disastrous consequences for modern international security as a whole," Lavrov said following the talks with his Venezuelan counterpart Jorge Arreaza in Moscow.
Russia reaffirmed its solidarity with the Venezuelan people and its support to Venezuelan legitimate President Nicolas Maduro at the talks, he said.
