MOSCOW. May 6 (Interfax) - The attempts to topple the current authorities in Caracas have failed, Venezuelan Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza said on Sunday.
"There were some calls for an armed overthrow of power and a military mutiny in our country. These are the calls infringing on the honor and dignity of the Venezuelan military. These are the calls for a coup, which failed and was a complete failure," Arreaza said at the talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Moscow.
"The relations between Moscow and Caracas are becoming particularly important" amidst the United States' calls to topple the authorities in Caracas, he said.
"They [the relations between Russia and Venezuela] are important not only for our countries, they are important for the whole world. We should set an example of how one should act in these kinds of situations," the Venezuelan foreign minister said.
