Minesweeper Ivan Golubets returns from Mediterranean Sea - Black Sea Fleet

MOSCOW. May 6 (Interfax) - The sea-going minesweeper Ivan Golubets has left the Russian squadron in the Mediterranean Sea and returned to Sevastopol, the press service for the Black Sea said.

"The vessel's crew performed the duties as part of the Russian Navy's standing taskforce in the Mediterranean Sea for four months," the press service said.

The Ivan Golubets vessel is a minesweeper built as part of the Project 266M. Its tonnage is 873 tonnes and its crew comprises 68 people.

On Tuesday, the Black Sea fleet said that the Kolpino submarine equipped with the Kalibr cruise missiles has concluded its duties in the Mediterranean Sea and is returning to its permanent deployment site, Novorossiysk.

The Russian Navy operates a permanent taskforce of up to 15 warships and support vessels in the Mediterranean Sea. Russian ships and submarines have repeatedly fired Kalibr missiles at militants in Syria.
