No more foreign parts in missile and torpedo weapons for Russian Navy - Region State Research and Production Company General Director

MOSCOW. May 13 (Interfax) - The problem of import substitution in the production of naval underwater weapons has been fully resolved in Russia, Region State Research and Production Company General Director Igor Krylov told Interfax.

"There is currently no such problem, all elements and parts of products and systems are developed and produced by Region and Russian enterprises," Krylov said.

Not a long time ago, several torpedo plants and enterprises manufacturing parts were located outside of Russia, in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Ukraine and the Baltic states, he said.

"After the collapse of the Soviet Union, the concern MPO-Gidropribor and the plant Dagdizel remained torpedo construction centers in Russia," he said.

Because of this situation, Region had to create a domestic production base to produce naval underwater weapons developed by the enterprise.

"It was created on the basis of enterprises included in the Tactical Missiles Corporation. We believe we are now fully ready to meet all needs of the Navy," Krylov said.

Region is an affiliate of the Tactical Missiles Corporation.
