Kremlin expects new Ukrainian leadership to take steps toward implementing Minsk Agreements

MOSCOW. May 15 (Interfax) - Moscow expects the new Ukrainian leadership to take steps which advance the implementation of the Minsk Agreements, Kremlin press secretary Dmitry Peskov said.

"There are a number of steps that Kyiv is expected to take. These are quite obvious; they've been put down on paper bearing the signatures of well-known parties, and we expect Ukraine to add some new elements to its approach which will advance us toward implementation of the Minsk Agreements," Peskov told journalists on Wednesday.

He commented thus on United States Secretary of State Mike Pompeo's remark on Tuesday that Russia should "reach out to Ukraine's new president."

Peskov insisted, however, that President Vladimir Putin and Pompeo did not discuss Ukraine during their meeting on Tuesday.
