ST. PETERSBURG. May 15 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) Director Sergei Naryshkin has said he invited United States Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to resume interaction between Russian and U.S. special services "at a higher level."
"In a very brief conversation following the main one yesterday, I shared these feelings of mine [with Pompeo] and suggested that we should resume both contacts and interaction at a higher level," Naryshkin told journalists on Wednesday, when asked whether cooperation between Russian and U.S. special services had been discussed during meetings with Pompeo on Tuesday.
Naryshkin said his meeting with Pompeo had taken place in "a good and professional atmosphere."
"The parties understand each other and are looking for common ground. I am sure there'll be a continuation," Naryshkin said.
