MOSCOW. May 21 (Interfax) - Three-quarters (78%) of the respondents polled by the Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VCIOM) believe that Russian plants are capable of manufacturing quality civilian planes, and 14% disagree, the pollster said in a statement seen by Interfax on Tuesday.
Eighty-three percent of the respondents said Russia should foster domestic production of aircraft even at a high financial cost, and 12% opt for buying foreign planes.
In the opinion of 33% of the respondents, aircraft production should develop in Russia due to the high level of reliability and safety of domestic products, and 32% say this should be done because the industry will create additional jobs.
VCIOM polled 1,600 respondents aged 18 and older on May 14.
