Putin, Merkel, Macron stress importance of preserving JCPOA - Kremlin

MOSCOW. May 22 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Emmanuel Macron have discussed the Iranian issue in a phone conversation.

"While discussing the situation surrounding the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) on the Iranian nuclear program the interlocutors stressed the importance of preserving this agreement, which is the key factor of maintaining international stability and security," the presidential press service said on Tuesday evening.

"Russia, France and Germany reaffirmed their commitment to further mutually beneficial cooperation with Iran in the trade and economic sphere," the statement said.

The parties agreed on further contacts at various levels, the press service added.
