Ukraine could hold referendum on compromise with Russia over Donbas - Zelensky administration chief

KYIV. May 22 (Interfax) - The team of the new president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, is considering holding a national referendum on whether to conclude peace agreements with Russia over Donbas, Ukrainian presidential administration chief Andriy Bohdan said.

"Volodymyr Zelensky himself declared in his speeches that we were considering the matters of reaching some agreements and putting them to a referendum. Because it is not just politicians but also the people who must speak. We are considering putting the matter of reaching peace agreements with Russia to a nationwide referendum so that not just deputies can vote and president make a decision, but also people make a decision and the public give an assessment," Bohdan told the 112 Ukraine television channel on Tuesday evening.
