MOSCOW. May 24 (Interfax) - Russian military specialists will service military hardware earlier supplied to Congo on being dispatched to the country, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov told reporters.
"These specialists will go to Congo to service military hardware and special-purpose property earlier supplied to the country," Peskov said.
Most of the hardware can continue to be used if it is properly serviced, he said.
"The people being sent there will service this property," Peskov said.
A contract on dispatching Russian military specialists to Congo was signed following Russian-Congolese talks on Thursday.
Russian Deputy Defense Minister Alexander Fomin told journalists that the Republic of the Congo has had a lot of Russian-made military and special hardware since the Soviet times, and some of it might yet serve the country's defense capability for a long time.
Russian specialists will train Congolese specialists and help them repair the hardware, Fomin said.
