Moscow, Tashkent sign military-technical cooperation contracts

MOSCOW. May 24 (Interfax) - Several contracts were concluded at a meeting of the Russian-Uzbek intergovernmental commission for military-technical cooperation in Samarkand on May 23, Russia's Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation (FSMTC) stated on Friday.

"The meeting focused on current issues concerning our bilateral cooperation under the Agreement between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Uzbekistan to develop military-technical cooperation, of November 29, 2016. The parties reaffirmed interest to develop military-technical cooperation further and outlined concrete steps to implement the reached agreements. The meeting resulted in the signing of a protocol and a number of contracts in the framework of the Agreement," the agency said, without specifying the contracts.

The next meeting is due to be held in Russia in 2020, the FSMTC said.

The Samarkand meeting was chaired by FSMTC director Dmitry Shugayev and the Uzbekistan State Committee for Defense Industry's chairman Atabek Ibadullayev.
