CHISINAU. May 30 (Interfax) - High-ranking officials from Russia, the United States, and the European Union will visit Chisinau at the start of next week, the Moldovan government press service told Interfax on Thursday.
Moldovan President Igor Dodon said on May 29 that Russian Deputy Prime Minister and special presidential representative for development of trade-economic ties with Moldova Dmitry Kozak would visit Chisinau next week. Dodon said Kozak and he were planning to discuss all aspects of Moldovan-Russian relations.
The Delegation of the European Union to Moldova said on Thursday that European Commissioner for European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn would come to Chisinau on Monday. According to a preliminary program of the visit, he would have meetings at the Moldovan government and the Foreign Ministry, and would converse with leaders of the key political parties.
Director of Eastern European Affairs at the United States Department of State Bradley Freden should also visit Moldova at the start of next week, the government said. The program of Freden's visit has yet to be finalized.
Some Moldovan pundits attributed the visits to take place next week to the formation of a parliamentary majority and confirmation of a government.
Dodon had asked the Moldovan Constitutional Court last week to clarify the procedure and date of the parliament's possible dissolution. He said the parliamentarians had until June 9 to try to form a government and overcome the political crisis, or otherwise the parliament would have to be dissolved and early elections called. The president said such elections could be held in early October.
