Russia not invited to U.S.-led Middle East 'deal of century' meeting in Bahrain, views this event as dubious - Russian Foreign Ministry (Part 2)

MOSCOW. June 6 (Interfax) - Russia has not received an invitation to a U.S.-organized "deal of the century" conference on the Middle East due to take place in Bahrain next month, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov said.

"First, we have not received any invitations thus far. Second, this very idea seems to be very dubious to us," Bogdanov told reporters when answering a question from Interfax.

"In this case, we are certainly guided by the approach of the leadership of the Palestine Liberation Organization [PLO], which is the sole legal representative of the Palestinian people," he said.

The Russian Foreign Ministry has had contacts with the PLO and Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas on this issue, Bogdanov said.
