ST. PETERSBURG. June 6 (Interfax) - Strategic stability issues should be the subject of public debates, and Russia is prepared for that, President Vladimir Putin told heads of news agencies at a meeting on Thursday.
"I am confident that these issues should be the subject of public and absolutely transparent professional debates, and that the world public should be involved in this process as much as it is possible in such cases," Putin said.
"Anyway, people have the right to know what is going on in this area," he said.
"Once again, we are prepared for that [debates]. We are confident about our security. However, we are concerned about the possibility of complete dismantlement of the entire mechanism of control over strategic weapons and non-proliferation issues," Putin said.
"Joint work is the only way out," he said.
