Putin on Russian military specialists in Venezuela: We are fulfilling contractual obligations, servicing weapons

ST. PETERSBURG. June 6 (Interfax) - Russian specialists are stationed in Venezuela to service weapons, which have been supplied in accordance with contracts, President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with heads of news agencies on Thursday.

"Speaking of our people in Venezuela. We used to officially sell our weapons to Venezuela, although we are not doing that for quite some time. Contracts stipulate maintenance of those weapons, and we must fulfill our contractual obligations, which is what our specialists are doing. They have been doing that for a number of years," Putin said.

"It is quite possible that our specialists, not all of them from the defense sector but also from other industries, have done certain works. Some of them might have left, and some might have arrived," Putin said in his comments on media reports regarding the departure of Russian military specialists from Venezuela.

"We will continue to fulfill our contractual obligations in the military-technical field," he said.
