ST. PETERSBURG. June 6 (Interfax) - Moscow welcomes Washington's intention to start dialogue with Tehran and is ready to facilitate it, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.
"I noticed that President Trump recently said, or wrote on social media, that he is essentially ready for meetings and talks with his Iranian counterpart, the president of Iran. This can only be welcomed, it would be a good step forward on the path of looking for mutually acceptable solutions," Putin told heads of foreign news agencies at a meeting on Thursday
"The Iranians are a proud people capable of defending their national interests, and dialogue with them, too, should be based on respect for Iran.
"So, the strength has to be summoned to begin this dialogue. We will facilitate this in every possible way," Putin said.
