Guaido's means of attempting to take power in Venezuela not normal - Putin

STRELNA, St.Petersburg. June 6 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has said he has a neutral attitude toward Venezuela's self-proclaimed president Juan Guaido, but remarked that he does not think the way Guaido has attempted to take power is normal.

"Guaido is a nice guy, and I don't have a bad attitude toward him. My attitude is absolutely neutral," Putin said during his meeting with chiefs of the world's leading news agencies on Thursday.

"But if we put that way of taking power into practice: someone turns up on a square, raises his eyes toward heaven and declares themselves before God head of state... Do you think that's normal? If yes, then the entire world will be in chaos," he said.

"What if we elected a president in the United States or anywhere else in this way? What if we elected [using this method] a British prime minister or a French president?" Putin said laughingly.

"I want to ask those supporting all this: are you mad? Do you not understand where that leads? Should there be some rules or not? There has to be something at least to adhere to," he said.
