Putin: Conversation with Trump about limitation of offensive arms encouraging (Part 2)

ST. PETERSBURG. June 6 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has said that his latest conversation with U.S. counterpart Donald Trump has been encouraging, including on the subject of offensive arms limitation.

"Take my latest conversation with President Trump. It is in fact encouraging. He said that he is worried about it, too, and that he understands how much the United States and all other countries spend on armament. This money could be spent on other things," Putin said during his meeting with chiefs of the world's leading news agencies.

"I absolutely agree with him," the Russian president said.

Putin went on to recall U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo's recent visit to Russia. "We were meeting in Sochi. He said almost the same thing. But if they do think so, then some practical steps should be taken toward a joint effort," he said.
