Ukraine gives priority to commissioning advanced missile weapons - National Security and Defense Council

KYIV. June 14 (Interfax) - Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council Secretary Oleksandr Danylyuk and Defense Minister Stepan Poltorak have attended new tests of the Vilkha multiple rocket launcher.

"Taking part in tests of the Vilkha missile system together with Defense Minister Stepan Poltorak: it strikes in all senses. The development and commissioning of modern missile weapons is a state priority. Strength is respected," Danylyuk said on Facebook on Thursday.

The operational headquarters of the Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council said state tests of modernized Vilkha-R missiles were conducted in the south of the Odesa region.

Danylyuk said the improvement of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' combat capability was among the Council's priorities. He said in this context that the Rada had adopted a number of decisions to speed up the commissioning of modern and efficient missile weapons, the statement says.

Ukraine said it successfully tested Vilkha-M missiles having an increased range and modernized Vilkha-R missiles with a cluster warhead at a range in the Odesa region on May 23. Poltorak said at the time that the Defense Ministry planned to conduct state trials of these missiles from August to October 2019.
