BISHKEK. June 14 (Interfax) - Pakistan is troubled by the situation in the Persian Gulf, Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan said.
"The situation currently unfolding in the Middle East and the Persian Gulf is a matter of great concern," Khan said at a meeting of the Council of Heads of States of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) on Friday.
Two oil tankers were attacked in the Gulf of Oman on Thursday. According to some reports, it may have been a torpedo attack, which caused explosions and a fire aboard the vessels. However, this theory has not been confirmed officially.
All crewmembers were evacuated to Iran.
U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has blamed Iran for the attack. The Iranian authorities, in turn, deny any involvement in the incident.
