MOSCOW. June 14 (Interfax) - The Russian sailors who were evacuated from tankers in the Gulf of Oman will soon return home via Dubai, a representative of the Russian embassy in Tehran told Interfax.
"To our knowledge, they will board buses within the next few hours and head for the city of Bandar Abbas, which has an international airport from where they will fly to Dubai. From there, they will return to their home country," the representative said.
According to the representative, the embassy has contacted the rescued sailors via the Iranian side.
"We don't have any direct contacts," the representative said.
The Russian Foreign Ministry said on Thursday that all 11 Russian crewmembers of the tankers that exploded in the Gulf of Oman had been rescued by the Iranian Coast Guard and taken to safety.
