Iran's active stance helped achieve much in Syrian settlement process - Putin to Rouhani (Part 2)

BISHKEK. June 14 (Interfax) - The successful fight against terrorism in Syria is a joint achievement of Russia, Turkey, and Iran, Russian President Vladimir Putin told Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani during a meeting in Bishkek.

"Relations between Russia and Iran are multifaceted and multidimensional. They concern the economy, regional stability issues, and our joint fight against terrorism; in particular, in Syria," Putin said.

Much has been done to foster the Syrian settlement process, Putin said. "In particular, thanks to the active stance of Iran. There is no doubt that this is the joint success of Iran, Turkey and Russia," he said.

Russia and Iran have been developing economic relations in many areas, Putin said. "Our humanitarian contacts have been sufficiently close for centuries, and the interest in the Russian world, for one part, and in Persian culture, for the other, has always been a highly significant aspect of our dialogue," he said.

Putin said he was glad to meet with Rouhani and discuss all issues.
