KYIV. June 14 (Interfax) - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has appointed Mykola Balan as Commander of the National Guard of Ukraine (NGU).
Balan served as NGU Deputy Commander since the spring of 2014. On May 7 then President Petro Poroshenko sacked NGU Commander Yuriy Allerov and replaced him with Balan as acting commander.
"To appoint Mykola Balan as Commander of the National Guard of Ukraine," reads a presidential decree published on the presidential website on Friday.
Zelensky also dismissed NGU Deputy Commander Oleh Kulik and appointed Volodymyr Kondratiuk as First Deputy and Ruslan Dziuba and Yuriy Lebed as Deputy Commanders.
