First Su-57 fighters won't be equipped with next-gen ammo - source

MOSCOW. June 17 (Interfax) - The industry has not fully met the target of weapons capacity for the fifth-generation Sukhoi Su-57 jet fighters yet, an informed source told Interfax.

"As for new aviation and bomb weapons, unguided missiles and ammunition for aircraft guns, work is at the initial stage," the source said.

"The first produced jet fighters will not be equipped with fully upgraded weapons," the source said.

At the same time, successful production of guided missiles for Su-57 is underway, the source said.

An Interfax source said in early Mary that a new contract for the serial delivery of Su-57 fighter jets to the Russian Aerospace Forces is expected to be signed this year, and the first serial Su-57 plane will be supplied by November.

In September 2018, Tactical Missiles Corporation General Director Boris Obnosov told Interfax that the Sukhoi Su-57 fifth-generation fighter jet will be armed with the R-37M long-range hypersonic missiles.

In addition, according to an Interfax source, the Su-75 fighters have already tested inboard weapons.
