Russian-Iranian-Turkish coordination facilitates advancing settlement in Syria - Putin

DUSHANBE. June 17 (Interfax) - It is important to move to preparations for political changes in Syria, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.

"Russian-Iranian-Turkish coordination in 'the Astana format' yields actual results, together we facilitate advancing the intra-syrian process, including the forming and the launching of the work of the Syrian Constitutional Committee. It is important to begin preparing the political changes that are necessary for normalization in Syria as soon as possible," Putin said at a summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA) in Dushanbe.

Owing to Russia's assistance, the Syrian legitimate government regained control over the majority of the territories of the country, and "the favorable conditions were created for the country's transition to peaceful construction, refugees and internally displaced persons' return to their homes," he said.
