Seoul favors soonest possible resumption of dialogue between N. Korea, U.S. - S. Korean Foreign Ministry (Part 2)

MOSCOW. June 17 (Interfax) - Dialogue between North Korea and the United States should be resumed in order to advance the peace process on the Korean Peninsula, South Korean Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha said following negotiations with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Monday.

"It is a very important moment now for the consistent continuation of the peace process on the Korean Peninsula, and secondly, we need to achieve real progress in the peace process through the soonest possible resumption of a dialogue between North Korea and the U.S.," Kang said.

Kang said she highly valued Russia's support in the development of inter-Korean relations and its "willingness to play a constructive role in resolving issues related to the Korean Peninsula."

"Minister Lavrov and I agreed to continue close contacts and interaction both at a high and at a working level for establishing durable peace on the Korean Peninsula and its denuclearization," she said.
