Kremlin assumes Tehran complying with JCPOA commitments - Peskov (Part 2)

MOSCOW. June 17 (Interfax) - Russia assumes that Iran remains the country most actively inspected by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and is complying with its obligations under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), Kremlin press secretary Dmitry Peskov said.

"We assume that Iran is the country most inspected by the IAEA, and President Putin has spoken about this. There is full transparency in this respect, and the organization itself has acknowledged this," Peskov told journalists in commenting on reports that Iran has again announced that it was reducing its commitments under the JCPOA.

"The IAEA's most recent inspection and its report acknowledged that Iran is fully complying with its obligations. We are acting based on this premise for the time being," he said.

Peskov said he did not see a statement on Tehran's intention to increase its capability to produce low-enriched uranium and therefore could not comment on it.

Atomic Energy Organization of Iran press secretary Behrouz Kamalvandi said earlier on state television that Iran would increase uranium enrichment capability on June 27 and would also step up the rate of uranium enrichment.
