Advisors to leaders of countries involved in Normandy-format talks to 'compare notes' - Peskov (Part 2)

MOSCOW. June 19 (Interfax) - Advisors to the leaders of the countries engaged in the Normandy-format talks on Donbas, i.e., France, Germany, Russia, and Ukraine, are planning to meet soon to "compare notes" and update the parties' positions following a long pause, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

Asked by journalists what the Normandy-format advisors would talk about at the announced meeting, Peskov said: "First, [they need to] compare notes and find out where we stand."

"There has been a long pause in the communication. Absolute stagnation in the process of implementation of the Minsk Agreements. Therefore, we should first conduct reconnaissance and find out where we stand," he said.

Asked who of the Kremlin officials will represent Russia at this meeting and whether this will be a presidential aide or advisor, Peskov replied, "This would be at the level of presidential aides. It's either Yury Viktorovich [Ushakov] or Vladislav Yuryevich [Surkov]. Either is possible."
