Zelensky replaces Ukraine's rep in TCG humanitarian subgroup, re-appoints others

KYIV. June 19 (Interfax) - Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has re-appointed three authorized representatives to the working subgroups of the Trilateral Contact Group (TCG), which mediates a peace for Donbas, and replaced the country's representative in the humanitarian subgroup.

Under Zelensky's decree of June 18, Bohdan Bondar is authorized to represent Ukraine in the security subgroup; Ihor Veremyi, in the socio-economic subgroup; Valeriya Lutkovska, in the humanitarian subgroup; and Oleksandr Motsyk, in the political subgroup.

The government is to ensure funding for the country's representation in the TCG.

In 2012-2018, Lutkovska was parliamentary commissioner for human rights later becoming Program Director at the Ukrainian Institute for Human Rights. She previously served as deputy justice minister and commissioner for compliance with the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms.

The other three had previous TCG experience and led Ukrainian delegations in the working subgroups.

Bondar, who was head of the main command center of the Armed Forces and deputy chief of the Joint Operations Staff, led the security subgroup. He has the rank of major general.

Veremyi was first deputy head of the main department for reform in the presidential administration, represented Ukraine in the socio-economic subgroup. He previously served as deputy minister of economic development and trade, first deputy head of the main director for economic policy and economic reform in the presidential administration.

Motsyk is a diplomat, has the rank of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary. In 2010-2015 he was Ambassador to the United States and later represented Ukraine in the political subgroup. He previously served as Ambassador to Turkey, deputy foreign minister, first deputy foreign minister for European integration, and Ukraine's chief negotiator at talks with foreign states.
