DONETSK. June 19 (Interfax) - Head of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) Denis Pushilin has accused the Ukrainian military of deteriorating the situation and attacks on the DPR civil infrastructure with the use of heavy weapons.
"The severe exacerbation of the military situation is seen along the entire contact line. Ukrainian armed forces cynically and overtly are carrying out attacks on the Donetsk People's Republic. They are firing 122mm shells, 52mm rounds and other heavy weaponry forbidden by the Minsk Agreements," Pushilin said in a statement published on his official website.
Only the civil infrastructure, including residential houses, medical institutions, sports facilities and cultural centers are designated as primary targets, while civilians are coming under fire, he said.
"While Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is on a European tour, declaring his striving for peace and promising to immediately begin the restoration in Donbas [yet, at the expense of the Europeans] in front of video cameras, the Ukrainian armed forces are consistently and methodically destroying Donbas with even greater fierceness. This is a crime against humanity, which the international community should not ignore," Pushilin said.
Zelensky as the commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian army is personally responsible for each shell fired on the territory of the DPR, he added.
"We are calling on the international community to give a tough and categorical response to the attacks on our territories," the DPR head said.
